A pedestrian died after being struck by a car outside the Dunkin’ on Fisherville Road in Concord Wednesday morning.

Later in the day, another serious accident was reported on Hopkinton Road involving two vehicles.

Police responded at 5:50 a.m. to an emergency call that a pedestrian had been struck by a motor vehicle at 98 Fisherville Road, which is the address of the Dunkin’ in Penacook. Within a minute of their arrival, officers began CPR on the pedestrian, according to Deputy Chief John Thomas. The pedestrian was transported to Concord Hospital and later pronounced dead.

The windshield of a silver Nissan sedan at the scene of the crash was shattered and its hood dented. A red walker lay on the side of the road nearby.

The victim was crossing the street but not in a crosswalk, though the exact circumstances and cause of the collision are still being investigated, Thomas said. It is too early to say whether any criminal charges are expected, he added. The pedestrian’s name and age have not been released, pending notification of the family.

Fisherville Road in Concord was shut down for several hours during the Wednesday morning commute as police investigated the accident. The main route from Penacook to downtown Concord was closed between the McDonalds restaurant and Bog Road.

The road was reopened around 11:30, police announced on social media.

Later Wednesday, police and firefighters responded to an accident involving two cars on Hopkinton Road in Concord that required a woman with traumatic injuries to be extricated, fire officials said.

Around 1:36 p.m., one car collided with the side of the other vehicle, which sustained heavy damage. The accident occurred near the intersection of Hopkinton and Currier roads, near where a head-on fatal accident happened earlier this month.
