The death of an inmate at the state prison that happened overnight, deemed untimely but not suspicious, is being investigated by the state.
Corrections officers learned of an unresponsive inmate just after midnight Monday, according to a release from the New Hampshire Department of Corrections. They called an ambulance and began life-saving measures, including CPR and the use of an automated external defibrillator, or AED. Efforts to revive the man were stopped after a do-not-resuscitate order was found in his records.
“All aspects of the death remain under investigation,” the release states, and the death is not considered suspicious. The inmate’s identity and further information are being withheld pending the results of an autopsy scheduled for Tuesday morning.
