Ever since Russia invaded Ukraine three years ago, Pam Sinotte has been meaning to put up a Ukrainian flag outside her Concord home.
But after watching Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Oval Office meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump on Feb. 28, she decided it was finally time.
“I was very, very upset by that scene that unfolded in the Oval Office,” said Sinotte. “It was just horrifying to me that this leader, Zelensky, who has been fighting so hard for three years, was just so viciously attacked by Trump and Vance It was also really a national embarrassment.”
Determined, she headed downtown to Flag-Works Over America on Kennedy Lane and bought a 3-by-5-foot Ukrainian flag, which now hangs outside her home.
Sinotte said she was surprised to hear she was getting the last Ukrainian flag in stock.
Justin Strevig, owner of Flag-Works Over America, said that last week, the store saw many customers looking for Ukrainian flags. He quickly sold out of the six flags he typically keeps in stock.
“A lot of people showed up last week for some Ukrainian flags. That certainly was a trend last week,” said Strevig. “I'm trying to order some more with our vendors, but there seems to be a nationwide trend.”
The store has been around for 28 years, and since Strevig bought it six months ago, he’s noticed a demand for international flags for the first time.

Flag-Works Over America sells 3-by-5-foot Ukrainian flags for $60 and 2-by-3-foot flags for $40.
Sinotte explained that displaying the blue and yellow flag outside her house is her way of showing solidarity with Ukraine.
“For me, it's about keeping people just conscious of what's going on for the Ukrainian people and what's going on here in the White House,” Sinotte said. “For the Ukrainian people, this is a very difficult time, especially now with Trump pulling back military aid.”
