Letter: HB 524 is an attack on public health and small businesses

House Bill 524 is an outright assault on public health and small medical practices, and it should outrage every New Hampshire resident. This reckless bill seeks to dismantle the New Hampshire Vaccine Association, a system that ensures vaccines are accessible, affordable and efficiently distributed. Why? To appease a small group of anti-vaccine extremists at the expense of children’s health and small businesses.

The NHVA saves the state money, cuts red tape for providers, and guarantees vaccines for all kids, regardless of insurance. If it’s eliminated, small clinics like mine — already stretched thin — will be forced to navigate an impossible tangle of insurance billing, diverting time and resources away from patient care. Many practices will simply stop offering vaccines, leaving families scrambling and kids unprotected. This bill is not about efficiency or cost savings; it’s a dangerous, ideologically driven attack on a system that works. It ignores the voices of thousands who oppose it and raises serious ethical concerns, including the last-minute removal of a highly qualified committee member before a close vote. If our representatives care at all about public health, they must reject this disaster of a bill. New Hampshire families deserve better than this reckless gamble with their health. Lawmakers, do your job — vote ‘no’ on HB 524.
