Boys’ Basketball

Newfound 57, Kearsarge 47

Key players: Newfound – Jayden Belyea (25 points); Kearsarge – Noah Whipple (16 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals), Austin Needham (13 points, 3 assists, 2 steals), Eli Whipple (10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals), Ajay Tremblay (4 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals), Bragen Kinzer (4 points, 2 rebounds)

Highlights: Newfound made five 3-pointers in the first quarter to take an 18-10 lead and led 25-20 at halftime. Both teams made runs in the second half, but a large number of turnovers and poor shooting from the Cougars allowed the Bears to claim the win on Wednesday night.

Coach’s quote: “Tonight was a tough loss for us, credit Newfound for playing great defense and having multiple players hit clutch shots. We had several chances, but the large number of turnovers and missed shots couldn't get us over the edge once we cut into their lead.” – Kearsarge’s Nate Camp
