Police identified a 34-year-old Concord man as the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash that took place early Saturday morning.

Concord police responded to a portion of Mountain Road around 2:45 a.m. on Saturday after a passerby came across a motorcycle in the roadway with the operator, Christopher Aquizap, several feet ahead lying on the ground, said Concord Police Deputy Chief John Thomas.

“It’s still under investigation but somehow the motorcycle ended up on its side and the rider was ejected off the motorcycle,” Thomas said. “We don’t know the cause of the accident.”

A toxicology report is pending but at this time, police do not believe drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor to the crash.

Aquizap, a Concord High graduate, was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to a local area hospital. A memorial scholarship has been established in Aquizap’s name by the Kimball Jenkins cultural center.

“Chris had a creative spirit, which took him to Los Angeles before he returned home to New England,” his obituary stated. “Chris was a talented painter and a loving brother, son and friend to many.”

The accident remains under investigation. A celebration of life is being planned for this fall.
