A cement truck traveling south on Interstate 93 veered off the highway and plowed into rows of parked cars at the Concord Coach Lines bus stop on Stickney Avenue in Concord.

None of the cars were occupied at the time of the crash, which was reported around 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Both Concord police and State Troopers responded to the scene near Exit 14 of I-93.

State Police Sgt. Daniel Livingstone said the driver of the Redimix cement truck suffered a medical issue prior to the crash and impairment does not appear to be a factor. The driver, identified as Scott Long, 57, of Alton Bay, was taken by ambulance to Concord Hospital.

The truck struck and damaged 10 vehicles as it traveled through the parking lot, then it crossed Stickney Avenue and continued into another parking area, where six more vehicles were hit before it finally stopped. An employee at Concord Coach Lines was able to turn off the truck, which was still in gear with its wheels turning.

“He went off the road, came down off the bank there, took down the fence, and came through the cars,” Livingstone said.

Sixteen cars were damaged, police said.

The Redimix corporation has facilities in Campton, Sanbornton and Bow with corporate offices located in Manchester.

Benjamin Blunt, an executive at Concord Coach Lines, said the company was working with State Police to identify the owners of the affected vehicles and contact them.
