A motorcyclist from Belmont was pulled over on Sunday after being caught speeding at 141 mph in Bow.
The incident unfolded just before 8:30 a.m. when Sgt. Jay LaPointe, monitoring traffic from an aircraft as part of the Special Enforcement Unit, spotted 21-year-old Aaron LaFlower passing vehicles on southbound Interstate 93 in Bow.
LaFlower’s motorcycle was clocked at speeds ranging from 124 mph to 141 mph, prompting immediate intervention from troopers.
Sgt. LaPointe alerted Trooper Scott Garton on the ground, who was able to stop LaFlower. He was arrested and charged with reckless operation. After processing, LaFlower was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in Concord District Court on July 26.
“Excessive speeding is dangerous and claims innocent lives,” said Capt. Matthew Amatucci in a press release. “The State Police will continue to conduct enforcement operations to improve road safety for all residents and visitors.”
The Special Enforcement Unit uses a Cessna 182 aircraft to detect and apprehend speeding violators and others who don’t follow traffic rules. During this operation, troopers stopped 30 vehicles traveling southbound on I-93 in Bow.
Among those stopped, 28 vehicles were found exceeding 90 mph, with nine vehicles surpassing 100 mph. In addition to speeding violations, enforcement actions were taken for offenses such as driving with a suspended license and failure to meet vehicle inspection requirements.
