Tilton man hit, killed by pontoon boat on Lake Winnisquam

A Tilton man was killed early Sunday when his scull rowing boat collided with a pontoon boat on Lake Winnisquam.
The crash, reported at 6:42 a.m. Sunday, involved Thomas Mead, 76, who had been rowing a scull – a low sleek boat of the type used in rowing races – when he was struck by a pontoon boat operated by a 17-year-old male.
New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol said the operator of the pontoon boat was able to get Mead aboard his vessel and began CPR. Resuscitation efforts continued by the operator until fire rescue units arrived on the scene. Mead was then transported by ambulance to Concord Hospital – Laconia where he was pronounced dead.
