Room on the porch

A huge thank you to Concord’s Capital Center for the Arts for bringing Taj Majal and Keb Mo here for a wonderful concert on June 3. There was delightful music and some songs with a great message. From their newest recording spring the lyrics, “Come on up, there’s room on the porch for everyone.”

I am not advocating for open borders in repeating these, lest some people reject this as only a political message. But I am advocating for open minds. And tolerance. With a dose of friendship and humanity. We can do so much better. We can celebrate our differences as well as our similarities. We can tolerate other viewpoints. We can express our own viewpoints with some thought for others, as well, instead of with cruelty and derision.

Come on up, there’s room on the porch for everyone.
