The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office is making a renewed call for information in the unsolved murder of a Wolfeboro mother who was killed 16 years ago, a day before Mother’s Day.

Stacey Burns, a 41-year-old mother of five and school nurse, was found stabbed to death in her North Main Street home in Wolfeboro on May 10, 2009.

Attorney General John Formella, alongside investigators from the New Hampshire Cold Case Unit and members of Burns’ family, on Friday reminded the public that the case remains an open homicide investigation and is still looking for fresh leads.

“We have not forgotten Stacey, and we will not stop until justice is served — for her, her children, and the community that continues to grieve her loss,” said Formella. “Even after all these years, one tip could make the difference.”

The night Burns was stabbed, two of her children and several of their friends were sleeping nearby, said the Attorney General’s Office in a press release.

It was her 15-year-old son who found Burns the following morning.

Despite an exhaustive investigation, countless interviews, and thousands of hours of work, no arrests have been made in the case.

As part of the renewed appeal, the Burns family has shared a new photograph of Burns, in hopes of sparking memories or conversations that might lead to new tips.

The family said that even the smallest detail could hold the key to solving the case to bringing justice to Burns and her grieving family.

“We are disappointed that this marks another year that our mother was tragically taken from us, with no clear progress in her case. We will continue to hope for the justice she deserves,” said the Burns family.
