D-II Girls’ Tennis

No. 1 Oyster River 8, No. 9 Bow 1

Key players:  Bow – Maddy Desrosiers and Makaylie Laws (9-8 (7-5) win at No. 3 doubles) 

Highlights: Top-ranked and defending champion Oyster River swept singles despite strong efforts from the Bow players in Thursday’s quarterfinal.

Coach’s quote: “I was very happy with how the girls competed today against one of the division’s top teams. Many of the girls had to play up a position today, and still had long rallies and close games.” – Bow’s Steve Langevin

D-III Girls’ Tennis

No. 2 Lebanon 6, No. 7 Bishop Brady 3

Highlights: The Giants ended their season in the quarterfinals. Brady improved over last season’s 6-9 record and advanced further in the tournament.

Highlights: The Tide won an important game on senior night to end the regular season. Concord is currently the No. 7 seed for the D-I playoffs.

Key players: Bow – Gavin McCabe (100th career goal, 3 goals, 2 assists), Billy Smethurst (2 goals), Ryan McCabe (2 goals), Nate Davis (goal), Sam Bennett (assist), Niko Mallios (assist), Jake Antuna (12-for-18 on faceoffs)

Highlights: The Falcons won in overtime on Smethurst’s game-winning goal off a feed from Gavin McCabe, who also tallied his 100th career goal. Bow will likely be a top-five seed for the D-III tournament.

Coach’s quote: “Players win games and I’m really proud of our players today. We stayed the course in a game that had a playoff atmosphere. We maintained our process today through the ups and downs. Credit to Plymouth for making everything hard for us.” – Bow’s Devin Calkins

Kearsarge 9, Campbell 8

Key players: Kearsarge – Nadia Spiegel (4 goals, assist), Adara Boucher (2 goals), Addyson Rossi (2 goals), Ella Dumais (goal), Tori Wooten (defense), Graycee Foster (defense), Stella Syvertsen (15 saves)

Highlights: Kearsarge started the fourth quarter with a pair of goals to build a 9-6 lead. Campbell scored two more goals to make it 9-8 with 6:50 remaining, but Kearsarge maintained the lead.

Records: Kearsarge 4-10; Campbell 2-12

Baseball

Belmont 25, Hopkinton 0

Key players: Belmont – Anakin Underhill (win, 4 IP, 0 H, 3 BB, 4 K; 3-for-4, grand slam, double, 2 stolen bases, 4 runs, 9 RBI), Hutch Haskins (1 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 1 K; 3-for-4, walk, stolen base, 3 runs, 2 RBI), Keegan Martinez (2-for-3, walk, run, 2 RBI), Max Ryder (1-for-3, run, 3 RBI), Wyatt Divers (1-for-2, double, 3 walks, 4 runs, RBI), Nolan Lafrance (1-for-2, walk, run, RBI); Hopkinton – Mike Pantano (walk, HBP; 1 putout at CF), Sawyer Zipke (2 putouts, great diving catch in CF), Jacques McCrillis (putout, assist at 2B), Nate Windhurst (only 11 pitches thrown for 3 outs in the third inning.”

Highlights: Underhill and Haskins threw a combined no hitter, and Belmont scored six runs in the first inning, nine in the second and 10 in the fourth, amassing 15 hits as a team and not commiting an error.
