Update: One dead after multi-vehicle accident at Loudon and Fort Eddy roads in Concord

One person died in a multi-vehicle crash on Loudon Road at the intersection with Fort Eddy Road and Exit 14 of Interstate 93 late Friday morning.

The 911 call came to the dispatch center around 11:04 a.m.

Multiple ambulances arrived at the scene and tended to the wounded, five of whom were transported to Concord Hospital. One person was in critical condition and later died at the hospital, police said.

One of the injured declined medical transport, said Concord Fire Chief John Chisholm.

“Preliminary investigation has determined that a vehicle was traveling west on Loudon Road and rear ended a vehicle stopped at the traffic light at the intersection of Loudon Road and Fort Eddy Road,” police said in a statement Friday afternoon. “The force of the impact resulted in multiple injuries and vehicular damage.”

The accident and investigation caused traffic backups throughout the area.

Loudon Road was closed in both westbound and eastbound directions at Hazen Drive and Airport Road. Additionally, Exit 14 Northbound off-ramp and Loudon Road Eastbound at Exit 14 were also closed.
