Letter: Will Sanborn be held accountable?

The NH Attorney General and Lottery Commission found that Andy Sanborn “misled” federal authorities to obtain a $844,000 pandemic loan intended to keep businesses afloat, and then “misused” the money to buy two Porsches and a Ferrari, and to pay himself $183,500 “rent” for his casino in Concord and the attached restaurant, The Draft. Sanborn, it is reported, intentionally “omitted” the name “Concord Casino” from his application for the COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan, aware that these loans were not available to gambling businesses. In other words, he committed fraud.
Forgive me if I have missed something in the Monitor’s frequent reporting of this story, but is Sanborn going to be held accountable for his actions? How? Surely not by allowing him to profit from the sale of one casino and to open another. I am guessing that if you or I defrauded the federal government of over $800,000, there would be consequences.
