A national chain replaced a family-owned restaurant on Loudon Road as Texas Roadhouse opened its doors on Monday, replacing the Newick’s Lobster House, which closed in March.

The lobster house building was torn down, and replaced by the 7,831-square-foot restaurant, which is adjacent to the Dollar Tree, and will feature 290 indoor seats, patio seating and 220 parking spaces.

Planning Board members granted conditional approval for the restaurant’s site plan during their December meeting.

Prior to Monday’s grand opening, while staff members prepared for the new business, money raised from pre-opening events was donated to the Friends of Forgotten Children and The Community Players of Concord.

Texas Roadhouse has hired 200 employees to cook, clean and serve at the Concord location. The restaurant will serve dinner only Monday through Thursday from 3-10 p.m. and on Friday from 3-11 p.m. Lunch and dinner will be served on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Texas Roadhouse first opened in 1993 and has more than 600 locations in 49 states and 10 countries.

In 2021, Texas Roadhouse ranked third on Newsweek’s list for best customer service in a casual dining restaurant.
