Girls’ Tennis

Concord 8, Manchester Memorial 1

Key players: Concord – Nadia Hannah, Madie Mikkelsen, Sarah Saleem, Libby LaBombard, Gracie Lorden and Kat Tewksbury (singles winners)

Highlights:  The Tide secured the victory early, allowing Penny Brown and Vanessa Rice to come off the bench to play at No. 3 doubles.

Coach’s quote:  “Memorial is usually competitive with Concord in terms of score, so we set a high bar here with this first match. Concord players had enough confidence in tennis today to overcome their first-match emotions.  This year’s Concord team is skilled in dance, volleyball and lacrosse. This should help as the players improve their mental and technical tennis games over the next few weeks.” – Concord’s Greg Malette

Records: Concord 1-0; Memorial 0-1

Boys’ Tennis

Bow 8, Coe-Brown 1

Key players: Bow – Ben Rondeau, Aaron Barrieau, Patrik Jurcins, Trevor Abel, Milo Cocola and Jacob Gancarz (all singles winners); Coe-Brown – James Larson-Clark and Max Heigis (8-5 win at No. 1 doubles)

Highlights: The Bears played some competitive doubles matches on their home courts, but the Falcons had a 6-0 lead through singles to secure the season-opening victory. Cocola and Gancarz didn’t drop a single game, picking up 8-0 victories in both singles and doubles.
